Do you require an oath, declaration or affirmation?
Some legal documents are required by law to be “sworn” on oath or “declared” or “affirmed” to give them their full legal effect. Such documents include oaths for probate, statutory declarations relating to land or marriage to name but a few.
Solicitors are empowered to administer oaths, declarations and affirmations.
The process is usually relatively quick and costs from £5 for administering the oath and £2 for any exhibit (there are not always exhibits).
Solicitors can also certify copy documents as being true copies of the original (of course, we must have sight of the original document before we can do this). Our costs are in the region of £5-£10 per certification. Where there are many pages that require certification, we will be happy to discuss a fixed fee.
